John 15:16 (NLT) “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.”
The responsibility is yours alone to embrace the fact that you are chosen and appointed to produce lasting fruit. That is your identity – embrace it! This singular purpose in your life means that sometimes, there will be giants that stand in your way. Because you are chosen does not mean that everything will be easy. In fact, it may mean that your battles are harder, bigger, and may even last longer.
When you encounter these giants, remember that you are chosen. With your identity comes the promise of protection and provision. So, play to your strengths, use what you already have, and you will become a giant killer.
It may require you to reinvent the game and go against conventional wisdom. Do it anyhow! When David the shepherd boy who later became Israel’s king defeated Goliath the Philistine giant, he had to create new rules of engagement. Rules that favored his strengths and not his weaknesses. Leverage your unique qualities that God has given you. Like David, run toward your battles – don’t run away from them.
Remember that the giants who come against you are coming against the Lord. David’s response to Goliath demonstrated how well he knew and believed this:
1 Samuel 17:45 (NLT) “…You come against me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies…”
Do you believe that you are chosen and appointed to produce lasting fruit? Then start acting like it, embrace your chosen-ness, be fruitful, and flourish!
